Surfboard Dings and Repairs - Surfboard Damage Will Happen But How Do You Repair a Ding?

It will be inevitable that while surfing or transporting your surfboard you will have a ding or two. These dings should be repaired to protect further damage to your surfboard. While surfboard ding repair is commonly offered through local surf shops that sell surfboards, many surfers choose to repair basic dings themselves to save money and time. The waiting list for surfboard repair in the peak of surfing season can be frustrating when sets of waves are rolling in and all you can do is watch your friends paddle out or you have to paddle out on your less than favorite surfboard.

A little practice and reading about surfboard repair will go along way and most surfers can handle a small repair without any problems. YouTube has probably hundreds of surfboard repair videos to help those that have never seen it done before.

Surfboard ding kits can be easily obtained from many online sources for very prices and several surfboard ding kits should be kept on hand. Keeping several repair kits on hand will eliminate frustrations during a good set of waves. Some surfers even make few dollars on the side using repairing boards for their friends which can add to the savings of purchasing a repair kit. Most repair kits come with everything you need including; epoxy, hardener, mixing cups, cloth, sandpaper, and instructions.

Repairing a wooden surfboard can be little more challenging than a modern epoxy fiberglass foam core surfboard because the natural grain of the wood is hard to conceal the ding than the painted fiberglass. Those that make wooden surfboards find that fixing a ding can be time consuming but always better than ignoring the problem until it gets worse.
